By Margot Del Rio

As the 2024 presidential election approaches, it is important to ensure that you are registered to vote. To register, visit Voter Registration and fill out the form. There are a multitude of languages to choose from, ranging from English, Spanish, Hindi, Chinese, Japanese,  Khmer, Korean, Tagalog, Thai or Tiếng Việt Vietnamese.

Eligibility to register consists of obtaining a California ID or driver's license and a social security number followed by providing date of birth. You must also be 18 years old or older and a citizen of the United States whilst being a resident of California. If you do not have a valid ID or driver's license, you are still welcome to register but additional steps will need to be required.

From October 7 to October 10, National Voter Education week will be taking place. On SBVC’s campus a Speaker series will be held in room 100 of the Business building on October 7 and October 8 at 2 PM where special guest speakers will deliver additional  information regarding voting.

On Wednesday October 9, there will be a Calmatters listening session at 2 PM in the library viewing room 149 where students and staff are welcome to voice their opinions and share concerns regarding the community. The following day will accompany a Film Screening of an electoral college story called “Safeguard” in the same viewing room 149 beginning at 2 PM.

Same day voting registration is available from Tuesday October 22 to Tuesday November 5, 2024 at a polling location or a county elections office. To register online or by mail the cut off date is October 21.
