Help Create the Magazine on the Technical Side
ENGL-125-01: Literary Magazine Production is a course that covers the theory and practice of producing a literary magazine including instruction on all relevant aspects of editing, design and layout. Students in this class are responsible for the production of the college literary magazine.
Students can enroll in Engl-125 if they have completed Engl-C1000 with a C or better.
A brief history
Phineas had been under the direction of Professor Joel Lamore 1996 until 2023. The magazine was started in the late 60s. Designed to showcase student talent in fiction, poetry, and artwork, Phineas quickly became a staple of the English Department. Professor Lamore encouraged students to submit their work, and he also supervised the production side of Phineas to help students gain experience in producing a literary magazine.
Thanks to Professor Lamore, countless students were able to see their short stories, poems and drawings officially published, for the nearly 30 years he oversaw it.
Though Prof. Lamore has passed on, his legacy will be continued with Phineas. Now, Prof. Edward Shea has picked up the reigns and carries on the legacy of the magazine.
